Closure, detours scheduled on Lee County bridges over I-88 for repair work

Full closure of the Ashton Road Bridge carrying traffic over Interstate 88 in Lee County is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Nov. 4, for bridge repair work. Once work is completed at the Ashton Road Bridge, work is scheduled to begin on the nearby Franklin Road Bridge, according to a news release.Construction signage will be put in place to alert drivers to lane closures on the bridges and local roads. The temporary closures are needed to accommodate traffic and provide a safe work zone. Up-to-date information will be posted on the Tollway website in the Daily Construction Alert. All work is weather-dependent.On I-88, lane closures will also be needed to accommodate the work on both bridges.The full closure of the Ashton Road Bridge is necessary to safely complete the maintenance and repair work on the local crossroad bridge over I-88. Work will include replacing bridge bearings.The Ashton Road Bridge is scheduled to close for three days and a detour will be posted routing traffic along R
