Hunter Carley adds to special season, Richmond-Burton rolls past Princeton in Class 3A playoffs — Oak Brook Sports news

Richmond-Burton’s Hunter Carley stood on the sideline, helmet in hand, awaiting his turn. A third quarter that saw Princeton keep the ball all 12 minutes meant the 5-foot-10, 210-pound touchdown-waiting-to-happen couldn’t do what he loves: put the ball in the end zone. After scoring from 52 and 32 yards on his last two rushes of the first half, the Rockets senior finally got his chance in the fourth quarter. His first carry went for 6 yards, but his second, on fourth-and-2, was another special moment, something that’s become commonplace for R-B’s star rusher.Carley took an inside handoff, bounced it outside and breezed past the Tigers’ defense for a 52-yard backbreaker.Carley ended the Class 3A first-round playoff game with 230 yards and four TDs on 12 carries, and the top-seeded Rockets coasted to a 42-3 win over the 17th-seeded Tigers Saturday in Richmond.R-B will host No. 9 Manteo (8-3) in a second-round game next week at a day and time still to be determined.“That No. 4 is special.
